Qatar is clearly a viciously evil force in the world, but in spite of this fact, it has used its oil wealth to bribe its way into Western society. It is time for us to recognize that it is not desirable to pretend that we can consider Qatar as an acceptable actor in international affairs. It is not acceptable that Trump’s representative in negotiations with both Iran and Hamas is known to have been bailed out of a bad real estate deal by Qatar. Surely he cannot be uninfluenced by the financial largesse he received; surely it should be possible to find a representative with less baggage. It is unseemly that the President of the US has accepted a multi-million dollar gift from Qatar. When Truman was president he was known to refuse any gift worth more than $10. He was the last President to leave office without a fortune. He was the last truly honest President.
It is ridiculous that Qatar is allowed to represent Hamas in negotiations with regard to the hostages and the Gaza war. Qatar has financed Hamas for years, supplying the money they used to build their thousands of kilometers of terror tunnels and purchase their arms. It is obvious that Qatar knew exactly where the funds they supplied were going.
It’s time to face realty. If you don’t know who your enemies are you will never defeat them. We should declare Qatar an enemy country; the same with Iran. No Israeli should be permitted to visit these countries or have any financial arrangements with them. It should be made clear to the world that maritime traffic to and from these countries is not safe. Merely making this announcement would hurt them financially because insurance costs would rise. Intercepting one or two oil shipments would drive the point home.
Qatar is a force for evil in this world, no better than Hamas, and should be treated as such by Israel and the rest of the civilized world.
