Britain’s shah moment (JPost Sep16)

The article by Perez-Shakdam details the alarming similarities between the fall of Iran and Yemen to the ideologically driven Islamic mullahs and the progress of Britain along a similar path. She remembers that in the case of both Iran and Yemen the mullahs achieved power in conjunction with left-wing groups. Once in power the mullahs turned on their erstwhile allies, viciously exiling them, murdering them or disposing of them in other ways. In both situations, the left wing groups thought that the alliance would help them achieve their immediate objectives, which it did. However, too late, they discovered that when the mullahs had no further use for them they were rapidly eliminated.

The similarities to the current situation in Britain is alarming, but there is one major difference, Britain has many centuries of tradition, a tradition that involved a slow but persistent evolution from a feudal monarchy to the development of a functioning democracy. It also has a tradition of patriotism and decency that is currently somewhat frayed but exists nevertheless.

Britain still has a well-entrenched class structure, and for many years the ruling class has dominated the country. It has made little difference whether the party in power was the Conservatives or Labour. The people running the show were all from the same class and had little knowledge of or concern for the lower classes. This is why when Britain voted to get out of the EU, the Conservatives, who to a man, wanted to remain in, made a mess of the negotiations, leaving Britain technically out of the EU, but still subject to the strangling bureaucracy of Brussels, a lose-lose situation.

However now there are a number of positive signs. The current Labour government is crumbling, having made several mistakes, Keir Starmer is obviously incompetent, his government will fall sooner or later; the Conservatives are in disarray having failed dismally when in office to keep their promise to control immigration or to run the economy efficiently; thus the door is now open for the new Reform party to win the next election. Reform is leading in the polls by a big margin; the writing is on the wall.

Recently the uncouth rabble-rouser Tommy Robinson was able to organize a huge demonstration in London of over 100,000 people, protesting against uncontrolled illegal immigration; basically against the huge influx of mainly Islamic immigrants. Robinson first made waves by exposing the long ongoing scandal of the Muslim gangs who preyed on poor lower class white young girls, a scandal that was ignored by the authorities because they wanted the Muslim vote and anyway considered the young girls as trash that they could safely ignore. He is now a force to be reckoned with. He will certainly support Reform.  Recently a Conservative MP quit his party to join Reform; he won’t be the only one. These are signs of a huge change in British politics.

It remains to be seen if the Reform party will be able to manage successfully. They will be hampered by the entrenched civil service bureaucrats, who are also drawn mainly from the old ruling class, and will have difficulty in dealing with the EU. However I have hope that they will succeed in restoring British independence and British pride. This is good news as the Reform party will not be dependent on the Muslim vote and will hence be more favorable to Israel and to Jews in general.
