Of course it’s a political move, just as the resistance to closing it is politically motivated. All publicly funded media are politicized. In dictatorships they are propaganda arms of the government and should be ignored by all sensible people; in democracies they are staffed by miss-educated university graduates who are now all leftists and should be ignored by all sensible people. There is no reason in a democracy to maintain a government funded news source; there is no shortage of private media of all genres; the argument that closure of Army Radio is a threat to press freedom is imbecilic! Only an intellectual or a lawyer could believe such nonsense!
