Apparently thousands, maybe millions, of idiots in Israel have demonstrated against the government in order, they claim, to bring back the hostages. Anyone with a functioning brain knows that these demonstrations bring smiles to the faces of Hamas leaders and obviously hardens their resistance to negotiations. Why should they compromise when all they have to do is wait till the Israeli government surrenders to their demands?
Maximum pressure should be applied to Hamas, not to the Israeli government. This can only be done by realistic threats to Hamas or the countries supporting them. First we should reclaim at least part of Gaza, and then we should limit all aid to Gaza, and threaten to expropriate the remainder of Gaza unless they return all the hostages. Women and children should be allowed to leave Gaza and can be temporally housed and fed in camps in Israel until some place of refuge can be found for them, Countries like Ireland, Canada and Australia come to mind, they love the Arabs so much, they should be willing act on their heart felt sympathies! China also might be willing to accept women; they have a shortage of women in China!
